A solid year of work

Today's Annual General Meeting reviewed the hard work of Rapid Creek Landcare Group members.

Working bees at The Spit continue to reduce weeds and fire fuel load. Bruschutting and hand pulling are the methods, and fuel is bagged and removed from the site. Parks did not have to carry out a fuel reduction burn this year as a result ... this means the monsoon forest seedlings have a much better chance of growing.

Coffee bush weeds have been removed right along the mangrove edge from the Creek's mouth to Trower Road. A Clean Up Australia event was held at the mouth of the Creek in September and the Group continues to work with adjoining Casuarina Coastal Reserve Landcare.
